Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an appointment or can I just walk-in for a hair test?
You must make an appointment for a hair test so that we can be sure that a trained collector is available to take your hair sample. You can contact us at 860.655.1593 or rebuildingfamiliesllc@gmail.com to schedule a time.
Where are hair samples collected?
We collect samples at our office which is located at 30 Arbor Street, Suite 208, Hartford, CT 06106. If you cannot get to our office, we are able to travel to you for an additional fee. Offsite collection costs an additional $15 plus $0.54 per mile.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Private payment options are cash, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Tests pre-approved by OCPD are billed directly to OCPD and not the client.
How long after last use are drugs detectable?
A standard hair drug test is 1 ½”, or approximately 90 days , though longer time periods can be tested, depending on the length of the hair. Any testing beyond 90 days incurs additional testing costs.
Should I bring copies of my prescription medications to my drug test?
Yes, in some cases. Copies of your prescriptions will prove you are medically required to take some drugs that can show up as positive in a drug test. The prescriptions may help determine whether or not the prescriptions are consistent with the drug test results.
What is the average turnaround time for test results?
Once received by Omega Laboratories, results will usually report out within 1-3 business days.
How are the test results reported?
Lab results are logged into the laboratory information system and reported to Rebuilding Families LLC via secureweb reporting. Results are then provided to the client and any other recipients approved by the client.
Can a hair test be beaten?
At this time there are no known successful adulterants for hair tests. Since hair tests analyze the drugs inside the hair shaft, external contaminants/chemicals have no effect.
What laboratory is used to test the hair sample?
Omega Laboratories is used to test the hair sample. More information about Omega Laboratories can be found at http://www.omegalabs.net.
How can you be sure the hair sample that is tested is from the right person?
We require photo identification and cut the hair directly from the client’s head. We do not accept hair strands that have already been cut (ie, from a brush). We, and Omega Laboratories, follow strict chain of custody requirements. This means that there is a chronological paper trail of every step of the process including, but not limited to, the collection of the hair sample, the transfer to the lab, and the analysis.
